Alan Boswell Group: Rent Guarantee Insurance

Alan Boswell Group's marketing team makes a lot of its own content. For Rent Guarantee Insurance they wanted two things from one job: a product film to help sell the cover, and a library of footage their own team could keep using once the film was finished. We've known the business for a while, so we sat down together and worked out how to get both from a single shoot day in the most cost-effective way.

They wrote and voiced the script in-house. We spent a day at their Norwich head office, three of us on three cameras plus the drone, filming staged scenes with their own staff across two floors. We cut two versions of the explainer, one for landlords and one for letting agents, with simple motion graphics in the Alan Boswell colours and typeface. Around the scripted scenes we filmed the office as it works: people at their desks, client conversations, meetings, the building from the air. That footage went back to the team graded and ready to drop into their own edits.

Filming scenes in an office is always tricky, because you're asking people to be themselves in front of a camera in the middle of their working day. We went in to be part of the day, not a stuffy film crew there only for the shot. There was plenty of chat, setups were quick and people had time to settle. We came away with real smiles and proper conversations on camera.
